Fast-food giant Burger King and MTV have teamed up to bring dancehall star power to its latest beverage launch with the inclusion of multi-platinum Grammy award-winning Dancehall superstar, Sean Paul.
The Dutty Rock deejay will be featured in the company’s 75-second short film celebrating the introduction of Burger King’s newest Frozen Pink Lemonade, the official frozen drink of this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) set to be aired on September 11.
The Frozen Pink Lemonade, a deliciously refreshing and vibrant frozen beverage, debuted nationwide on Aug. 29 and will be highlighted during one of the most prominent nights in music. This new collaboration marks the fifth consecutive year of Burger King’s partnership with Paramount and MTV, and it’s the first time Burger King has introduced a product directly inspired by the VMAs.
In a statement sent to WMV, Pat O’Toole, Chief Marketing Officer of Burger King North America, shared, “We’re thrilled to have Sean Paul bring his unmatched energy to this campaign. The Frozen Pink Lemonade perfectly complements his vibrant style, making it the perfect drink to introduce at the VMAs – an event that’s just as cool as the new beverage.”
Airing of Sean Paul’s Short Film The short film, produced by Paramount Brand Studio, features not only Sean Paul but also world-renowned artists Les Twins. The short film is set to premiere during the live broadcast of the VMAs on Wednesday, Sept. 11, adding even more excitement to the show. The visual, inspired by the refreshing qualities of the Frozen Pink Lemonade, showcases the drink as a complement to the high-energy atmosphere of the VMAs, perfectly aligned with Sean Paul’s dynamic persona.
Event and Promotion Details Burger King will also celebrate its collaboration with MTV through special events:
- VMAs Block Party: On Sunday, Sept. 8, from 12-5 p.m. ET, music fans can head to Domino Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for a lively block party where guests can enjoy the Frozen Pink Lemonade for free, don an iridescent Burger King crown, and take part in co-branded giveaways with MTV.
- VMAs Event: Guests attending the VMAs on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at New York’s UBS Arena will have a chance to sample the Frozen Pink Lemonade before entering the venue for the night’s festivities.
Additionally, from Aug. 29 to Sept. 11, Burger King’s Royal Perks members can enjoy a free small Frozen Pink Lemonade with any purchase of $1 or more made through the BK app.
